The Downtown Ann Arbor area is jam packed with art enthusiasts from all over the country! Every year we welcome over 500,000 patrons to The Ann Arbor Art Fair. This year has been no exception, as the locals make room for one of the most beloved of art fairs in the country.
Here is a quick list of Top 5 artisits/exhibits to visit:
1) Local Ann Arbor Folk Artisit Claudia Leo: Boasting folk art from her native country of Argentina, Leo presents FILETEADO-INSPIRED FUNCTIONAL ART on the Porch of Herb David Guitar Studio.
2) Musician Laurel Premo: Laurel Premo shares a music full of life that draws from Appalachian, Celtic, Contemporary folk, Cajun, Bluegrass, and Scandinavian roots. From haunting old ballads to feverish instrumental compositions, her music is made for all ears. Find Laurel on The Ingalls Mall Lawn today at 4 p.m.
3) The Imagination Station: features free arts and crafts activities for young children and their families. In keeping with our Zero Waste goals, the activities utilize reused materials and encourage interaction with the natural environment. Projects include recycled tube rain sticks, milk carton birdhouses, recycled paper bag hats, and bottle cap necklaces. Located at ArtZone, at the South end of Ingalls Mall. Wednesday – Friday, 10 a.m. to 5p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
4) Bottle Cap Mosaic Workshop: Help local environmental artist Leslie Sobel create a large scale mosaic by attaching multi-colored bottle caps to a repurposed snow fence – a technique to be used in the proposed Sky River public art project. South End of Ingalls Mall W-Th, 3-5pm.
5) Jewlery Artisit Barbara & Virginia Cieslicki: Carve & dye acrylic & inlay gold leaf designs. Silverleafing back results in luminescence. Booth A116
